Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults
Circuit Safeguarding Officer: Mrs Meg Gilks, contactable through the circuit office
Safeguarding children and vulnerable adults is at the heart of all activties in the Methodist Church, and we adhere to nationally recognised guidelines in British Law. For more information please do contact our safeguarding officer.
Safeguarding Training Foundation Course.
The purpose of the course is to heighten awareness of safeguarding issues in a church setting. It is the responsibility of us all to ensure that the church remains a safe environment for everyone to enter. The course is different to a DDC/CRB check which is a police check on the past, to ensure that suitable people hold positions of responsibility in the church. It is the view of the regional safeguarding team, that people should not be holding positions of responsibility if they are unwilling to take the course.
Anyone due for a safeguarding check will be contacted by their church safeguarding officer or myself.
The next course will take place on Wednesday 9th October in White le Head Chapel with a choice of 2pm - 4.30pm or evening 6.30pm – 9pm.
This course needs to be refreshed every four years. If you took your last course in 2015 or earlier, you need to book on this course if you are still carrying out a role which requires you to undertake the training.
The following roles require people to take the Foundation training:
Minister, Local Preacher, Worship Leader, Church Steward, Circuit Steward, Church Safeguarding Officer, Pastoral Visitor, Group Leader of a group which is run on behalf of the church. To book a place please contact Meg Gilks email@example.com, 01207 438329.
